Group 13 in action ~
In PALAPES, there are 3 categories
of training: Latihan Tempatan, Latihan Berterusan & Annual Camp. Our
Latihan Berterusan was arranged to go to Camp Kongkoil in Jelebu, Negeri
Sembilan. Camp Kongkoil owned by UPNM, a camp by roadside. UPNM always send
students to there for study camp, military training camp, even lecturers also
have their activities at here. HAHA, so pity. We went to Camp Kongkoil for our
military training for 5days. This was better than our annual camp. At least at
Kongkoil, we get to bath everyday, sleep in tent; can wear sport attire, and no
dirty mud. But, don’t know why, maybe I haven’t get my mental set before went
there, I felt very uncomfortable at there.

Got tent leh, so good ~

Breakfast together ~

Ransom ~
15 April 2013, early morning after
breakfast, we gather and released to start our mission – Aksasais Compass
Marching. This is my very 1st compass marching experience. A group
with 10 people, with a map, a compass, some “explosive bom” and ransom,
everybody carry a backpack and a steyr AUG A1, Yeah, start mission. Compass Marching, we have to solve every
obstacles we face to reach the destination. Either in front you is a high
mountain / river / underbrush / mud, you have to cross it, MUST. Walking at the
rubber estate, mosquitoes always follow us, ouch..!!! Beh tahan leh. Mosquitoes
keipo than us. Yo….. Walk depends on the map and compass, will lost or not?
When we walk, we have to hide ourselves by passby passenger, especially our
officer. If found by our officer, we have to restart our mission from
beginning.

Scary ~
Well, my group was the last group
released from starting point, it was about 12 noon. We were so hungry under the
hot sun. From our starting point, is a high mountain, yes, CLIMB!!! Everybody
can’t go with empty stomach, so eat our lunch at a place which we don’t know
where is it. Until the half way, everybody give full co-operation to the team.
A lot of obstacles that really out of our expectation. Hot sun, heavy backpack,
heavy gun, can’t find correct direction, what else you want???
~
No direction ~

No more energy, tie the rope at tree and pull ~

Too hungry ~
Around 6.30pm, sky turned dark, we
still can’t find our checkpoint, can hear for car sound, but we were at high
peak of mountain, can’t find a way out, really LOST, LOST, LOST. We contact
base camp by radio set, can’t hear anything, take out handphone, no line!!!
Don’t know what to do, we decided to find a place to setup our tents. We follow
a route, like a route can pass by car. We really hope for help and wish can
meet someone, but NONE. We walked follow that route, it’s a circle going down
to downhill. Turn, turn and turn, we saw a house!!! Is a simple wooden house,
our hope!!! We knock the door and unfortunately, nobody inside, the house just
like a pit-stop-place for rubber tappers. We overnight there, did a campfire to
avoid from mosquitoes, cook for dinner, and atleast lit up some fire for us.

Radio set ~
Actually is a fault to come down the
hill, we were in the right middle of the jungle, surrounded by mountains,
that’s why can’t receive signal. We used the explosive bom to give signal to
base camp and shoot few shots to inform officers we were there, but no
response, maybe they can’t hear our shots and they can’t see our emergency
explosive bom. OMG, so helpless. We slept outside that house and take turn to
guard our place.

The house we overnight ~
Another morning, we are so pleased
to see rubber tappers came to that house, and they point the road for us. OK,
we continue our journey to complete the mission. Actually we already know got
road outside just by walking distance. But, we are not going to give up like
this. We continue our journey to find the checkpoint. Nothing landmark can be
seen, just a peaceful and mystery rubber estate. We depend on the bearing of
the compass, but can’t find the checkpoint also. Thirsty and hungry stomach
made us no patience, plus my face and hands also swollen because of wild
mosquitoes. I hate you la mosquitoes!!!
~
This called mosquitoes ~
We slide down to downhill, then walk
follow river, then one of our member nearly get beaten by bee. Then don’t know
direction already, and finally we gave up, due to safety comes first. We walked
to the roadside and try to contact base camp, still no signal. Luckily, our
truck passed by there and picked up us. We didn’t complete the mission and for
sure get punished. An unforgettable experience, lost for 24 hrs, luckily I’m
still here today. And here came our punishment…But I cannot show you la.
