Melacca Backpack Tour (Part I)

What made me stepped to Melacca actually? Melacca is a state that I wanted to visit for long time already, just wait for the chance. I didn’t want to stay at hostel that week, so I thought of pay Seremban a visit. But coincidentally my friend was busy, so I changed my mind. I planned to visit long-waited Melacca alone, haha. I decided this in very late night, my roomie also get worried about my sudden plan. With just 2 hrs time, I searched all Melacca’s travel information, hotels, famous places, foods, public transports and many more. Yes, I did homework before went there. I was quite scared to travel alone actually, but I have to. I woke up very early in the morning, 8.30am departed from KL-Melacca Sentral. On the journey to Melacca, I drafted my schedule and think of many things. I sent sms to one UTEM friend. He replied and I got a tour guide accidentally, that’s the good of having friends everywhere. J

~ Yeah, ticket bought (RM9) and heading to Melacca. Trying to become a newly backpacker as practice, starting point here, trying to bring my own stories to this world ~

Buy ticket at Terminal Bas Sepadu (TBS), range RM9 - RM12, 2 hrs journey, can rest for a while.

1st Station – Zoo Melaka, Muzium Orang Asli
I had to find my friend at Bukit Beruang, so change bus. At there, I can see MMU and had my very 1st lunch in Melacca. I met my friend there and one new friend introduced to me, they two are very funny. Then went to Melaka Zoo, entry fee RM10, spent 3 hrs with animals, haha. Near to Melaka Zoo still got many places to visit, such as Crocodile Farm, Taman Rekreasi, Aborigimes Musuem (Muzium Orang Asli) and so on.

~ A nice shop under big tree, the boss very nice person. Noodles there very special and delicious (特别推荐水饺,内有皮蛋噢,超好吃的,还有鲜草水,70sen 而已) ~

~ Long time didn’t go to zoo, like a little child new to zoo, hoho ~

2nd Station – Dutch Square, Jonker Street

~Dutch Square, Christ Church,  Stadhuys~

As raining season now, so unluckily we had to become water duck, haiz, can’t take picture nicely. 3of us immediately ran into a shop to buy plastic raincoat, it costs RM3. Because of raining,  we took pictures with the ugly raincoat, why it rains!!! We straight proceed to next location, Jonker street, the crowded street in Melacca. Jonker street very crowded during Saturday and Sunday nights, MUST VISIT. To escape from rain, we entered a restaurant at 1st. So many people inside the shop but their efficiency is very good, foods are served very fast. After that, rain still don’t want to stop, but we also just walked under the rain. Night scenery along the Jonker Street is very very beautiful, with the lights of every shop, with the crowds of people, I like it so much.

~ Nyonya Laksa, Nyonya Cendol, Mihun Sup, and noodles ~

Later on, no rain anymore, yeah, can walk along the Jonker Street freedomly without raincoat. But my cellphone created problem for me at that moment, it was out of battery!!! With the condition I haven’t found my place to overnight, sky already turned black, why my cellpnone played with me. At that moment, you can feel the helpless when you travelling alone.  I can’t get to snap beautiful scenery of Jonker, very bad. Many foods we tried along the street and I entered any shop that attracts my eyes. J I feels like wanted to buy many cute things, but I had to control myself. STOP my hand!!! When the rains stopped, people started to join the crowd in Jonker, very difficult to move, but I like the crowd. Coincidentally got dance show at Jonker stage, we find a restaurant to sit and enjoyed the show at the same time.

~ Night nice scenery at Jonker Street ~

~ Pork Satay RM0.70 for one, very expensive and Ikan Bakar(photo lost) ~

While waiting for the foods, I decided to go and search for my room. One person at outside, accommodation is the most worried part. My UTEM’s friend suggested me to stay at their girl friend’s room, and they already contacted his girl friend, and also permitted by their friend. But I felt like their place kinda far away from town and I didn’t know their friend somore, paiseh neh. J I heard that at area Jonker Street got many guesthouses and hotels for backpackers and also visitors. So, I went one by one hotel to ask for empty room.  Maybe because of weekend, too many people, many hotels were fully book. Me and my friend went for 1st street, 2nd street, 3rd street to find for a room. Finally, fate with Jalan-jalan Guesthouse met. When I almost gave up for finding room, I suddenly saw a blue wood house with little-opened door, a guy fixing the door inside the house. I think twice and saw a word “ Jalan-jalan Guesthouse” and “ Rooms & Bikes”.

~ Durian Puff and Yogurt Puff, 6 pieces for RM8. Super duper delicious ~

I wave to that guy behind the door and he opened up to welcome to me. I still can jokingly ask him, “is this house a hotel or what?” Haha. He said is a guesthouse. Then i ask for the price. He showed me the rate and the room. Luckily there was still got one single room left, it was for me JIn my deep heart, I think I found the guesthouse that I dreamed for as a backpacker. I decided to stay here, I like the environment. Actually the guy behind the door is the boss of Jalan-jalan Guesthouse. J I book a single room and only cost RM28 per night, very cheap. Around 11pm, I checked in to Jalan-jalan Guesthouse, the house already in dark light, in sleeping mood. When I entered the house, I felt peace and harmony, felt very safe live under that house. After I’m safe to the house, my friends also back to UTEM. Really thanks for them to accompany me for the whole day. I rest in my new room and rewind back of my day in Melacca. Plus, I also drafted about the plan for next day. 0100H, light off!!!

~ Nice room for backpackers and the souvenirs I bought ~

~ Jalan-jalan Guesthouse, I like the decoration ~

Facilities at Jalan-jalan Guesthouse:
-          Bikes Rental
-          Free Wifi for 30mins per day
-          Free coffee and tea
-          Travel books search
-          Many more

Nice memory to stay at Jalan-jalan Guesthouse. May be is the fate let me overnight at there. Nice service and still I like it very much. Will come back again. Guesthouse is a place can let backpackers exchange information and share experiences. Before I left, I paste 1 message on the message board. Felt great to have a memory as a backpacker.
