PALAPES Training: Log Relay & Cross Country

The day before PALAPES Training, on Friday night, Kelab Sukan Lasak UPNM held one video showing on << Chasing of the Legend>>. I went for the video showing after roll call PALAPES. Suddenly saw so many foods on the tables, and the café was well- setup for our dinner and video showing leh. I was too shocked looking at so “luxury dinner” for club members. While eating dinner, we watched cycling video at the same time, don’t you feel too enjoyed at that moment? Haha. A lot of foods served to us: Nasi Tomato with hotdogs +nuggets +chicken, waffles, fruits, beverage and jelly. Wow, that night really made my stomach full. First time watched cycling video really made my heart going to pop out by the cyclist actions. They ride too good and too fast, really scared to cycle, but they did very well. Thanks Kelab Sukan Lasak UPNM anyway, let me learn a lot of things. Erm, let’s say next time held one video showing at the Dewan Bestari and open for everybody, just collect RM1 for the entrance ticket, can earn money for club, at the same time can let others know more about endurance sport, hah, I think my idea not bad la. We shall watch video together with whoever interested in sport, sit in the hall just like sitting in a cinema, having snacks when watching video, let’s burn up the spiritual of sports in the hall. Great great, I like it.  I shall recommend this to club members.

~Look, our club just like one super duper happy family. Watch video together, swim together, run together, cycle together, eat together, share sport knowledge together, go event together, pain together, training together, make UPNM proud together. We are the best!!! ~

Well, it’s time for PALAPES Training again. On 31 March and 1 April 2012, Saturday and Sunday, we worked as a soldier. PALAPES as the invited Battalion to challenge in Log Relay & Cross Country. These are tradition sports for Angkatan Tentera Malaysia(ATM), Log Relay, also known as Log Race is about a game to carry log on the shoulder in pair, two persons per log, wearing Full Set Marching Order (FSMO), and holding a M16 along, run for 1.6km. They need to see which Battalion is the fastest. While Cross Country is about to run in a jungle, slippery hill in Game Order (G.O) for 8km. Actually both these activities hold to choose the Battalion (Bn) Diraja, among Bn TUAH (Red), Bn KASTURI (Yellow), Bn JEBAT (Blue) , Bn LEKIR (Green) , while Bn KEKIU (Maroon) and Bn PALAPES (Black) joined but didn’t count on their marks.

Let’s talk about Log Relay. Log Relay known as sibling for ECO CHALLENGE, but is easier than eco challenge. Every battalion sent out 30 people for Log Relay. As I’m a person who plays endurance sports, so everybody keep asking me why I didn’t join Log Relay, aiyo, their questions very annoying la. It is because I not feeling comfortable to run with spike boots and log relay such a “high level’s game”, I think I can’t take it. I felt so helpless to my Battalion, sometimes I’m excused to PALAPES Training for running activities at outside, but when the time comes, I can’t help them in Log Relay pulak, felt so sorry. So, I decided to join Cross Country to contribute my sweat for PALAPES. For Log Relay, PALAPES get no. last but without training, they managed to do it just 1s left behind no.5, very good.

~Let you see what is Log Relay in actual~

~Battalion PALAPES, team Log Relay & team Cross Country. Can find me? I’m at the left hand side 8th in the column.~

While for the Cross Country, every battalion sent out 90 guys and 10 ladies for this challenge. As I’m quite strange with the route, just knew the route quite challenging. Each battalion sent out 100 persons, means 6 battalions total is 600 persons need to run on the narrow route in the jungle? Wow, really is torturing lo. Every battalion got their own strategic to win. They sent their guys to guide and “open road” to their ladies, so that can get in top 5 and contribute marks for their battalion. Well, I don’t have guider and want me to chase and take over so many guys on the narrow route really very difficult. Until the highest of the hill, when time to goes down the hill, the route very slippery, when you started the “journey”, just like cannot stop down!!!! I’m so scared, take the best position and run down the slippery route, when felt uncontrollable, fast fast had a pit stop by hugging at the big tree, it was too extreme, haha. My no bib was 091, I get no.10 for ladies category, means, got 50 ladies left behind me, ok, not bad la. You know what we used to colour our no. bib? Tell you la, in military life, we used Black Kiwi to colour our no. bib. Haha.

~Starting Line of Cross Country, so many people, how to run leh?~

 ~Run Run Run…..~

For the conclusion in both of these games, PALAPES didn’t get any prizes and the winner was Bn TUAH, Congratulations. Cadets always found they got “unfinished job” with PALAPES cadets because PALAPES was the winner for Eco Challenge while cadets was the runner-up. As they found PALAPES like “Kacang lupakan kulit”, too proud after winning the game. Actually not like that lo, I think the athletes who joined Eco Challenge knows the actual situation, the news of “too proud” just blows among the outsiders and supporters who don’t know how their hard training with cadets going on.
#Supporters always look on the result but they didn’t look at the process#
So, don’t blame us who don’t know the real process and just cheers for our team’s winning. Overall, cadets and PALAPES’s cadets still 1 family, we are happy family. Peace J About Eco Challenge, still got a long long story to talk, but too sensitive, cannot talk. This time, cadets won all the prizes and counted fair already lo, each team won once.  Congratulations for cadets and PALAPES cadets. Well, Log Relay & Cross Country ends here. Cadets celebrated their winning by outing while PALAPES still need to carry on with our weekend training.

After lunch, we got TACTICAL TEST. Har? Military training also need to do exam? Haiz… Study a little bit for this exam, don’t know what’s marks I get, hoho, hope will passed. TACTICAL TEST came out what we did at annual camp last 2 months, think back of the 10days jungle life, haha, what a funny life there. After everything settled, PALAPES Training also finished….
